Almost an Accidental Seminole Century

Today we planned to ride 85 miles from Chattahochee, Fl. to Monticello, Fl. It started well: a good breakfast at Subway, a light sprinkle but no real rain all day, no wind, flat roads with smooth pavement. We rode into Tallahassee and took a side trip to Florida State University to see the Doak Campbell Football Stadium. Then we ate lunch at our first Checkers burger joint. From there our route took us on the Tallahassee – St Marks State Trail, a beautiful new asphalt bike trail. It was on this trail that the things went awry. The map indicated 13 miles on the trail, we went 15 miles, because we missed the turn off, and yet we were 5 miles past our route! Bottom line, our error made today’s ride 96 miles. It was an especially long day for Ron. But he perked up at the motel when Jill surprised him with sushi she had purchased back in Tallahassee!
In all honesty, it was actually a pretty easy day of riding, just a little longer than we planned.
