Farewell Louisiana, Hello Mississippi!

Today’s 84 mile ride to Lumberton, Ms. was as glorious as Friday’s ride but 10 degrees warmer with sunshine all day. Our major obstacle for the day came early while we were still in Louisiana. A road closed – bridge out sign started showing up on our route at about mile ten. We decided to push on. Bart will be so proud of us! We crossed the partially finished bridge platform by carrying our bikes over a narrow wood walkway.
As we rode through Bogalusa La. at mile 50, we were hailed by a motorcycle club that was serving a jambalaya dinner as a fundraiser for their civic projects. We pulled in for lunch with them and answered questions about our trip and our bikes. Soon after we said goodbye to Louisiana and entered Mississippi, our sixth state. Although we did have some patches of rough road and even a couple cars that passed way too close, it could not dampen our spirits from such an enjoyable day. As you have seen from today’s other post we had plenty of fun teasing our missing crew member (riding associate)!
Jill visited the Global Wildlife Center in Folsom, La. and got some great wildlife pictures before meeting up with us on the road.

Yes, I’m proud of you for forging ahead and getting across the closed bridge instead of taking a detour! Way to go!!!
